The Foundation was organized and is operated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes by means of scholarships to medical, nursing and other allied health professionals; programs to encourage healthier personal and professional lifestyles for medical and health professionals and their families; educational programs of personal and professional natures for medical and health professions; fundraising to accomplish the purposes of the Foundation; and the promotion of volunteerism among medical and health professionals.
This year, the Foundation will continue its fund-raising efforts and asks for your generous contribution. We especially encourage you to donate $100 to honor one of your mentors. Each mentor will receive a beautiful certificate suitable for framing, announcing your donation to recognize him or her.
The Foundation's fund-raising has been accomplished through a variety of special events of the Alliance. Many allied health students have benefited from the IMSF's generosity since 1990, since more than $120,000 has been awarded in scholarship monies.
The IMSF's Playground Project, chaired by Paula A. Hall, MD, and completed during the summer of 2003, continues to be one of the most popular venues at The Indianapolis Zoo.
In the past, the Indianapolis Medical Alliance members have distributed the "I Can Choose" books to every student in grades K-3 of the Indianapolis Public School System. This activity book provided these cooperation with the American Medical Association Alliance's Stop America's Violence Everywhere (S.A.V. E.) Project will go a long way toward educating our children about choosing non-violent methods of settling arguments.
