Marc E. Duerden, MD, was the 130th President of the Indianapolis Medical Society. Marc E. Duerden, MD, a specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation; directing much of his attention to Spinal Cord Injury Medicine, has been with Rehabilitation Associates of Indiana since 1993. He is also a clinical associate professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Indiana University School of Medicine.
Dr. Duerden received his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1989 and served his internship at St. Vincent Hospital and Health Care Center in Indianapolis, and residency at Northwestern University School of Medicine Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.
Dr. Duerden is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with a subspecialty board certification in Spinal Cord Injury Medicine and the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners. He is on the hospital staff of Community Hospital and Indiana University Medical Center, and on the consulting hospital staff of many of the other hospitals in the area. Most recently, his administrative experience includes the nomination to the Board of Directors of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He has served in the past as the Chairman of the Medical Records Committee at Community Hospital. His professional activities include being a Diplomate Recertification Exam Question Writer for the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is a manuscript reviewer for the Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is a current and former member of numerous committees. Dr. Duerden is active in the Boy Scouts of America. He is a prolific author with many articles, presentations and honors to his credit.
The Indianapolis (Marion County) Medical Society was founded in 1848 and has more than 2,100 members representing approximately 67% of the physicians in the greater Indianapolis area. The IMS is a component of the Indiana State Medical Association and the American Medical Association.
